About us

We are known as the FROGSS (Fundraising Group for Singleton School)

Charity Number: 1070148

The Friends of Singleton School is a charity fund raising committee which automatically includes all parents, (once your child has started school) and members of staff.  However we have a smaller 'core' group who meet on a regular basis to discuss and organise future events as well as regular 'helpers' who we rely upon to support our activities. The success of the Friends depends upon the support of the parents. We greatly appreciate any help, so if you would like to become involved please do not hesitate to contact one of the committee members or come along to one of our meetings.

What we do

We organise fun and enjoyable activities for our children as well social events for their parents. (See below for recent examples) Most of these events take place in order to raise money for the school.

Events

Over the school year we plan some regular events for children and families too.  Below are some of the events we have previously run.

  • After School Chocoholics
  • Children's Film Night
  • Easter Egg Hunt (all children receive an Easter Egg)
  • Children's Evening Disco
  • Children's Christmas Fair

How the money is spent?

The money is used to subsidise the cost of after school clubs, Christmas parties and trips. All Reception children are given a P.E bag and book bag paid for by the Friends. Next year we will pay the travel costs incurred for the junior children's residential trip to Cobnor.

We also financially support specific initiatives taking place within the school. For example, we have given £1000 to enable the purchase of books to support the school's 'Year of Reading'.

We are keen to help develop the Prayer Garden - starting with the installation of a Shepherd's Hut for children to seek a quieter space during break times and for classes and groups to use for class worship.
